Knowledge Hub/Property Transfer Process & Timelines

What happens after the property transfer is complete?

Once the transfer is registered and the new title deed is issued, the buyer becomes the legal owner of the property. There are a few practical steps that typically follow.

These may include:

  • Collecting keys, access cards and parking permits from the seller, agent or developer
  • Transferring or setting up utilities such as DEWA (electricity and water), district cooling and internet
  • Registering the Ejari (tenancy contract registration) if the property is tenanted or will be rented out
  • Updating service charge accounts, community registrations and building access with the relevant parties
  • Reviewing any handover documentation, property condition matters or snagging requirements

The exact steps depend on the property type, whether it is completed or off-plan, and whether the property is vacant or tenanted at the time of transfer.

CLC can advise on the practical steps that typically follow completion so the handover is organised and nothing important is missed.
