How long does a DIFC property transfer take?
DIFC's property registration framework prescribes specific registration deadlines that apply after the relevant transaction date. These are regulatory deadlines, not estimated transaction completion times.
The applicable registration periods under DIFC's current guidance are:
- 30 days for completed units
- 60 days for off-plan units
- 50 days where the property has a registered seller's mortgage
These deadlines depend on the transaction category and the property's registration status. Late registration can result in penalties, so the applicable deadline should be identified early and the registration process planned accordingly.
The overall transaction timetable will also depend on documentation, mortgage arrangements, DIFC Registrar requirements and other transaction-specific factors.
